Cell Theory

It appears that all of life is composed of cells, and this is formalized as the "cell theory" by Karp. The elements of the cell theory are:

• All organisms are composed of one or more cells.
• The cell is the structural unit of life.
• Cells can arise only by division from a preexisting cell.

Cell Properties

Part of the cell theory is that all life is composed of cells. The description of life can be approached from the point of view of describing the properties of cells. This illustration follows Karp's organization of cell properties.
