Barite is BaSO4. These examples of the Barium - containing sulfate mineral are displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. The sample is about 20 cm across and is from England.

This sample is described as barite with boulangerite. It is from Cavnic, Crisana-Maramures, Romania. It is about 26 x 33 cm.

Both of the barite samples above are from Cumbria, England. The top sample at left is about 12 cm high, and the yellow variety shows the tip of a crystal which was about 5-7cm long. The sample at right is about 16 x 32 cm and is another of the wide variety of forms that barite can take.
