Uvite

Uvite is a silicate which contains boron and magnesium with composition Ca(Mg,Fe)3Al5Mg(BO3)3Si6O18(OH)4. This sample is about 8x8 cm and is from Brumado, Bahia, Brazil. It is described as uvite with magnesite. It is on display at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.

This uvite sample is about 13x13 cm and is from Brumado, Bahia, Brazil. It is described as uvite with dolomite. The single crystal below is about 1x1 cm and is from Landali mine, Losa Ganoi, Tanzania.

The uvite sample at left above is about 3x6 cm and is from Pierrepont, New York. It is described as "uvite with quartz". The sample above right is about 6x6 cm and is from Gouverneur, New York.
